Of All the Things I Could Have Done (2010)
This series looks at the objects and images collected in the artists studio alongside her endless ‘to do’ lists. This daily ritual of listing and ticking off acts both as memory aid and as a visual diagram of activity, a visible map of having gotten something done, evidence of momentum and of course as an attempt to assuage the doubts and fears of an ever ‘emerging artist’. The works also refer to the act of collection and the constant reframing of narratives which is part of this artist’s practice.
Shot on large format transparency this is a series of constructed still-lives with a flat perspective. It was a way of addressing a creative rut by shining a light on the everyday and making something out of that which is just ‘around and about’ and largely goes unnoticed.
